Celebrating her birthday at school

My baby girl turned 8 years old this year. Her birthday fell the Sunday right after the last day of school this year, so we celebrated it the Monday prior. I made cupcakes with "funfetti" mix, bought some store bought already made candy flowers and placed them onto blue frosted cupcakes for Alana. (blue is currently her favorite color) Brayden and I headed to school right before Alana's last recess to share the cupcakes with her class and enjoy the "birthday festivities" Mrs. Greiss does for each child. Alana was SO looking forward to this!
So, here are the cupcakes, ready to go to schooleverybody seemed VERY impressed....they really were the easiest anything I have ever made for my kids. :)
The class started out with singing Happy Birthday to Alana. In between the "Happy Birthday to you"'s, Alana's teacher, Mrs. Greiss grabbed hold of Alana's hips and shook them back and forth as the class said "cha cha cha". Alana just stood there and giggled the whole time...it was SO stinkin' cute!
Here is Mrs. Greiss putting an "its my birthday!" sticker on Alana then Alana got to choose a pencil next was what Alana was looking forward to the most! BIRTHDAY SPANKINGS!!!
Then of course the essential pinch to grow and inch, sock to grow and block and one other I don't remember right now. :)
After the "beatings" :) Alana and Mrs. Greiss talked a little about what she was gonna do for her birthday and Alana told her about her upcoming baptism this picture was from that conversation. :)
Afterward Mrs. Greiss gave the class some instruction and then Alana got to hand out her cupcakes as the class headed out to recess. It was cute...she got to pick which clump of desks came up to get their cupcakes first, then second and so on...seeing those kids sit up so straight and quiet to get their hands on those cupcakes...it took me back to trying to impress my teacher like that when I was in elementary school. :) Alana with her cupcakes

Brayden was VERY excited to be able to participate in recess on the "big playground" with Alana. She showed him all around so he would be familiar with it when he gets to 1st grade next year. Made me smile seeing her taking him around everywhere holding his hand and including him in fun with her friends. When the bell rang, Alana helped him to know what to do to line up at class too (the picture is from that). Mrs. Greiss was so impressed she said he was ready for 2nd grade!
one thing at a time...they're already growing too fast!
